Agree live shows are better - its the recordings of them that tend to disappoint especially if you were there as it never quite sounds the same. Although will check out your suggestion.

      I've always felt that the live recording of Birdland (Lazy16T) is better than anything they managed in a studio.. it's my touchstone for how bands at that time all, pretty much without exception, ended up sounding disappointing in the studio..
