OK it took a while listening to every available recording of SBB to come up with the best sounding complete sessions, but here goes.

The first session was repeated quite a few times over the years, most recently on Karl’s March Mixtape though only one track on that. The best sounding recording is from the repeat on 16th December 1982 (strangely the Best of Year session on that F50 programme was their 1981 session not the 1982 one). Even that show was available from multiple sources but the best sound was from our erstwhile contributor Ray, so I’ve uploaded the session extracted from his show to the Mooo.
The second session I didn’t have. The very quiet wav file was actually from the third session.
I’ve amplified the file within Audacity but also substituted the first track of Singing Today with my own recording from my June 1983 mixtape which is much clearer.

Perhaps Martinw has a copy of the second session somewhere?

This could take a bit of time, but I have:

Two complete versions of the first session, one a very quiet wav file another an mp3 file. The first session is also on a show which is available in complete form and partial form with varying sound quality. And of course the recently unearthed single track on a Karl Tape.
A very quiet wav file of the second session. Probably taken from a blog.
A couple of tracks from the third session from the 15th June 1983 show. The two came from a Pates Tape, but I have a version of Singing Today in very good quality on my own June 1983 mixtape. It was only in recent years that I identified Singing Today and only thanks to the grroup it had been bugging me for many years!

The Sophisticated Boom Boom page is now the proud owner of one record of a play. In my search to ID it I came across many fellow travellers who had fond memories - including a blog post by the son of one of the band who was looking for it in 2010 as his mum was rehearsing the songs agaion for a possible gig and they had forgotten what they sounded like!

Could we upload the sessions on to the page on the MOO or is that asking for trouble ... they only put one song on vinyl on a compilation album and I can't find much on Youtube either - if they are soimewhere else on t'interweb could someone point me in their general direction! http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/Sophisticated_Boom_Boom

I’ve deleted the duplicate page, and added any additional information onto the remaining page, which was actually the one Steve had linked to on the Sophisticated Boom Boom page anyway. Also the duplicate didn’t have Karl’s Tapes as a category and wasn’t listed in the 1985 page either so it would have been hard to find!
Also added a little info to the SBB page about the likely Muriel session repeat.

Stuart If you tidy up the double page of Karl March 1985 will need to make sure the link Steve has fixed still works and is now properly identified ... hopefully you will know what I mean!
