[peel] Re: Did Peel ever play Tom Waits?

For some reason Peel genuinely disliked Tom Waits' music.  I recall him playing a track by someone else that was a cover of a Waits song.   After playing it, Peel expressed surprise at this, saying he didn't know Waits had it in him.  He made other negative comments from time to time too.

  I think I posted the question here once before, but apart from some early Mothers, eg. in the final Perfumed Garden, I don't recall ever hearing any Zappa on Peel, which considering his prodigious output, would seem a deliberate omission - possibly because John was fond of Beefheart, who fell out with Zappa, or perhaps he couldn't quite stomach Zappa's famously cynical world view?
  Can't see why he would dislike Tom Waits though, who seems a pretty genial sort of fellow from what I've read...

    Although personally I'd agree with you that Rain Dogs is a great
