He didn't play "Pepper" in full on the final PG - just little groups of tracks scattered throughout the five & a half hours. This is when he first played it:

The interesting thing about Peel on the PG is that he didn't fit the stereotype of the hippy DJ who'd say "yeah, man this is a really groovy album" & then disappear for 40 minutes. Usually he'd play individual tracks (occasionally a sequence of 2 or 3, or long passages from the Mothers' "Absolutely Free")  & talk in his personal way between them. This may have been a result of his training in US commercial radio - underground FM radio was only just emerging over there in summer '67. As Martin says, playing albums in full came later.....
