thanks, Rob, standing by!

I am afraid I think the Depeche Mode story is wishful thinking. That
date and week (17/6/81) I have concrete evidence Peel was presenting -
because Mark Burgess remembers listening to his own first as The
Chameleons going out that day. I also found that session sheet in
Mike Hawkes' Evening Show files (it says 'Evening show' across the
top). I also have found no record at anytime of Richard Skinner
sitting in for Peel. Mark Ellen, Muriel Gray, Kershaw, Walters,
Gambaccini, Lamacq, Jarvis Cocker, etc etc yes; Skinner, no. It stays
out of the book, barring an extraordinary revelation from someone
armed with a dated off-air recording, sorry

not which) about the only "John Peel Session" by Depeche Mode. It's
listed in "In Session Tonight" as a Richard Skinner session, but
someone was claiming that Skinner presented it because Peel was ill.
Not sure if that one was ever cleared up.
