I think it was in the late eighties that southern softies Luton Town
failed to turn up for a midweek fixture at Anfield due to what they
had unilaterally decided were poor weather conditions.

They eventually turned up for the fixture a few weeks later and were
soundly beaten by the Reds.

In his show that night, Peel observed that Luton had finally turned up
for the match, despite the fact that it was a bit chilly that
evening. "Yes" said Peel "there's definitely a nip in the air".
