Finally got round to listening to the Dec 10th 1976 Peel Punk show
hosted by The John Peel Tape Project (http://johnpeeltapes.blogspot.com
-currently temporarily down). One beautiful moment when he plays
Anarchy In the UK, and introduces it by saying "People don't seem to be
playing the single very much, which is a pity because it's a good
stomper". What irony, now 30 years on you can buy it on a compilation
from every garage forecourt.

For those of you who haven't listened to the show it really captures the
mood of Punk at the very start without Peel being sure where this music
was going.

Saw U2 last night (how very un-Peel). Almost the biggest reaction of the
night was when they played The Killers single during the warm-up! The
Thrills and Snow Patrol were OK but a little 'wet' for a warm-up band.
Much rather have seen the Kaizer Chiefs/Killers line-up scheduled for
the Amsterdam show.

John
