So, its been a few weeks now since I came home to Atlanta after a summer trip to the England and Ireland. And part of the journey included an extended weekend at Peel acres, with my wife and children along too, thanks to John's unexpected invitation. 

And before leaving I promised the list I'd report back to this list on the day of a Thursday program. But the Thursday I was there was the night the Barcelona set aired, so I missed seeing a show go out from Broadcasting Cottage. Instead I got to see the odd sight of John sitting in his own kitchen listening to his own show on the small kitchen stereo, and reliving the week-old glory of his triumphant Barcelona DJ set.

Anyway there is much more to tell, but it seems to me to be somewhat gouache or whatever to just force story or three on the list unless there is really some interest in just how he puts his shows together, sorts his music, accepts or rejects stuff... this is the sort of thing I saw. Anyone interested? Any questions?

As for Cowcube, the Stowmarket sampling/collage/musician/programmer John was praising tonight... ya oughta just send Cowcube an e-mail to whatever the address was and get his CD. His name is Paul actually, and I sent him an e-mail months ago and we met up in Stowmarket so I could buy his CD from him eliminating all the middlemen. It is one of my favorite CD's of 2001, in my top 3. Peel called this a demo CD, and I think this is because Paul told me he'd taken the disc down to London and shopped it around to labels and all agreed it was great. And some agreed they would give it a legit release but only if he would please eliminate about 70% of the samples (!) which ain't gonna happen says Paul. 

He was rather despondent about it in fact, after all the work he'd put into it. So its a great piece of guerilla art, and damn funky and LOL funny at times too and you should support your local copyright liberator, in my view.
