my decent DAC tip would be TC electronic BMC-2 - plenty on ebay for around
a hundred. It is strictly a DAC though, so your 'puter would need some kind
of digital output. That's a studio-ish one.. at least it has a nice volume
control....

Then the beresford is always well regarded, that's a more hifi-folks type
thing... might get one with usb input so will plug directly into your
'puter.

Also a huge rabbit-hole, as I'm sure you're aware... there are millions out
there
