[peel] Tidying up and Attn Bill Duff Paddy and Steve W re 11th Aug 1968

Thanks Pete for all the hard work.
I thought I would just run through this and correct the links but as usual the detective in me intervened and I have a few questions about the first show in the list, 11th August 1968

Three versions of the show were listed in the links section of the page, one being the session tracks and intros shared on Hal’s Blog. Another was the fully reconstructed show, File 3, using independently sourced records (this file no longer available anywhere as it was on Kimdotcom’s little site, anyone have it?).

Bill’s show, the one whose link I am updating, File 2, appears to be a partial reconstruction, containing mainly the contents of File 1 (session tracks and intros) plus a couple of records. The sound quality appears to be identical to File 1. Is this perhaps a partial or first go at reconstruction, and who did the complete reconstruction, was that you as well Bill?

The comments section on the wiki page also refers to a recording of lesser quality but including most of the first half of the show complete but this is not referred to in the links. Does anyone have that file?

Stuart

So, having finally managed to get half a day to myself, I have ascertained the following:

These shows are all in Bill's folder, here: http://mooo.peelwiki.com/dl/BillfromNorthWales/01%20John%20Peel/

11 August 1968 30242
31 October 1978 megaupload & 30242
27 December 1978 megaupload
01 January 1979 megaupload
03 August 1987 megaupload & 30242
28 December 1988 mediafire live link
07 October 1994 torrent

This one's in the Misc folder, here: http://mooo.peelwiki.com/dl/Misc/
17 March 1983 megaupload

...so just need the links updating.

The following don't appear to be anywhere on the Mooo...
11 August 1967 torrent
22 September 1975 mediafire dead link
23 July 1979 (remaster) megaupload
06 January 1991 broken link to mooo
15 June 1991 broken link to mooo
16 February 1992 complete version megaupload
07 August 1992 megaupload & 30242 (tho' wiki link says mooo)
30 October 1992 a & c megaupload, b & d mediafire live links
08 October 1994 a-d megaupload
08 December 1999 live mediafire link
19 December 2000 a & b megaupload
19 June 2001 torrent
10 July 2001 torrent

...so they're all currently uploading to my folder, here: http://mooo.peelwiki.com/dl/pete/ (as I type, 6 successful transfers & 15 pending)

As usual, time & competence constraints will prevent me from putting proper links on the Wiki, but some kind soul's generally on the case in an instant :-)

Cheers aye, Pete

It looks like anything with the Cure and possibly Capt Beefheart is at risk of automatic deletion from MF so might be an idea to back these up to the Mooo.

Working from Stuart's handy list, it appears I have the following:

11 August 1967 torrent
11 August 1968 30242
22 September 1975 mediafire dead link
31 October 1978 megaupload & 30242
27 December 1978 megaupload
01 January 1979 megaupload
23 July 1979 (remaster) megaupload
17 March 1983 megaupload
03 August 1987 megaupload & 30242
28 December 1988 mediafire live link
06 January 1991 broken link to mooo
15 June 1991 broken link to mooo
16 February 1992 complete version megaupload
07 August 1992 megaupload & 30242 (tho' wiki link says mooo)
30 October 1992 a & c megaupload, b & d mediafire live links
07 October 1994 torrent
08 October 1994 a-d megaupload
08 December 1999 live mediafire link
19 December 2000 a & b megaupload
19 June 2001 torrent
10 July 2001 torrent

My next step will be to have a thorough check of the Mooo to make sure they're not lurking elsewhere, then I'll start uploading. Comments & suggestions most welcome, in particular with regard to live Mediafire links - do they need to be added to the Mooo or are they fine as they are?

Cheers aye, Pete

Then there’s the 30242b stuff! and the Peel Server. Might be worth checking elsewhere on the Mooo as well, as I know there was stuff uploaded there but didn’t necessarily get the pages updated.

In the interests of keeping things neat & maximising available space, I've deleted from my Mooo folder all the 'In Concert' files that were duplicated in Bill's folder - his are all better quality than mine - and the stray 2003 show that I uploaded without checking if it was elsewhere...

I'm certain I have a number of shows from Megaupload etc that aren't currently on the Mooo - when time permits I'll work through them all... is there an easier way than checking the Wiki page for each individual date?

Cheers aye, Pete
