Ah, I see - so what is the average bit rate for source material archived to this archive? 

The fact the MOO uses a lossy format, MP3, does mean that a whole heap of musical information is lost from the original tapes - no matter what the original quality of the analogue tapes. I assumed that the reason for this was due to limited online storage capacity? This is totally understandable, of course.
