High Level Ranters - proper Geordie traditional folk band who have been playing over 30 years and still playing now according to their website.

These are the guys that can actually play their Northumbrian pipes, violins and accordions, who go and look up obscure pipers and violin players and play their music and still sing all those great North East folk and Tyneside songs.

They also helped set up the High Level Folk Club to keep the music going.

And John Peel played them!

Thanks for pointing me to that Billy lecture, great stuff.
