[peel] More Automated Goings On - Last FM

All it means it that it was played by someone (e.g. hjaybay on 7th Jan) with "scrobbling" enabled.
last.fm is the combination of 2 services - the old last.fm that provided a large library of MP3 that could be selected from and played and AudioScrobbler that allowed users to post to the Internet showing what they are listening to.
Just because someone plays something and "scrobbles" it doesn't mean that the audio is in the last.fm library.

I expect that for most listeners ... most of what they play is also in the last.fm library and can be listened to by others. But those with less mainstream tastes (like many here) would have less success rate.

As an example .... the last 20,000 or so tracks played by Dandelion Radio are scrobbled but of the approx 350 tracks that we played (and scrobbled) in February there are only about 80 available to play on last.fm

There is good news for Dandelion Radio fans who miss some of our shows and who can't find everything via http://last.fm/user/dandelionradio ... our shows are now also on MixCloud http://mixcloud.com/dandelionradio to be played again after the monthly streaming cycle has completed.
