Shazam is pretty good in identifying tracks. I reckon around 80% of unknown tracks on the Peel wiki site were identified by Shazam. There is also a web version called Midomi (www.midomi.com), which is not as good as Shazam, but surprisingly Midomi is very good at identifying obscure heavy metal tracks, even if the track has a 10 second thrash segment, it surprisingly recognised it, when I tried to identify a metal track on one of Peel's shows.
