and me - however I have a very boring theory about it being age related - eg the period of new music you like most is the period from when you are 14 - 23ish. For me that would be 1977 to 1986ish . How about others? 

Obviously peel bucked the trend .... and there is stuff today that blows my mind - and there was that story recently about a bit of teh brain that reflects interest in new music so maybe I am just speaking rubbish
