Many thanks for the work/play you do for the Peel community, Stuart !
But with respect, the re-encoding of mp3 files at different bit-rates etc. is a bad thing to do. It is the main reason why the mp3 format has a bad rep amongst a lot of music fans and audiophiles - you can't tell what the original bitrate (ie audio quality) was ; unknown lineage/provenance etc. Plus, where does one draw the line - mp3 files have been converted into FLAC (lossless).
Likewise, is it OK to down-encode from 320 to 128 to save space ?
I really can't see the point of re-encoding at a higher bitrate when the ONLY change is a larger file-size and consequent increase in backup media required etc. Rant over. Keep up the good work, mate (and Mr Soitgoes), nothing personal ...
