I was at the University doing Maffs. Living at home with my mum but didn't always go home (very understanding my Mum, as well as being a dab hand at operating recording equipment).
I only ever saw Leppard once, upstairs at The Marples (near the Hole In The Road) just as they released their self pressed EP. Saw Human League supporting The Stranglers at The Top Rank in 78 complete with Captain Scarlet slide show.

Btw, I was in Sheffield in late 79 (student). On the first night, went to see "Destroy All Monsters" in a little club. Saw the Stranglers shortly after - amazing. Wish I'd have seen the early Def Leppard (Peel/Vance crossover band in 79) and Human League (brill first album) ...

Nowadays, 99% of all shows that bill themselves as "Rock Shows", not just on national radio, but on local stations and internet stations too, have a playlist that's all thud and fuzz, with little or no imagination. Bah! Etc...
