Didn't Peel say on that BBC4 Fall documentary that he liked them a lot but it wasn't until the third or fourth single, maybe even third or fourth session, that he realised they were really something exceptional? Which may have meant he wasn't yet a Fall obsessive at the time of his 40th.

Ah, hindsight. It's a wonderful thing.
 
Anyone care to explain how I managed to buy all the 
Fall singles up to and including Totally Wired (I think), more-or-less on 
release, plus the Witch Trials, Dragnet and Totale's Turns LP's without listening to Peel at all at that time?
