Just heard about this one forthcoming from my acquaintance Nick Low - no, not that one, this is the real Nick Low - who also produces here from his base in Glasgow the Craig Charles Funk & Soul show for 6 Music, among other groovy beat happenings (aided by Hermeet Chadha, Peel's former prog ass't):
"I am producing a 2 hour special for BBC Radio Scotland to be broadcast on Christmas Day called "John Peel's Scottish Sessions" presented by his son Tom Ravenscroft charting the Scottish acts whose careers were boosted by John's programme and the offer to go to Maida Vale to record sessions for his show" he says.
"It will talk about Scottish Peel session phenomenons from Ivor Cutler to Lulu, del Amitri to The Stretchheads, and John Martyn to The Delgados"
If you've got other suggestions/contacts/anecdotes. Scottish faves to suggest, let me know quick and I'll pass on the tips to Nick.
Another one to set the iplayer recording controls for after the Christmas pudding, I guess. However, I understand I may be appearing in it briefly myself, sorry.
