Look to me like the final timeline was something like ...
Thursday day - recording
Thursday evening - lawyers clear it
Week-end - trails on Radio 4 with edited clips ... giving first news of show to ex-partner and potentially the children
Monday day - contact between BBC and ex
Monday evening - show pulled

I reported (to the Kershaw group on Yahoo) a sighting of this in the BBC schedules on 18th April - 10 days before the
broadcast. Well before the recording was made. So surely there was enough time to have organised this better.

Whether or not BBC should have initiated contact to ex-partner on Thu/Fri is one that BBC lawyers would presumably have
recommended on (implication is that they did not initiate contact). But if the mother of the children calls up and says
that such a show would be distressing (without having heard it - but having heard the trails) then it may well have been
too close to planned transmission date to debate properly so they went for safety.
However, with the subsequent public discussion, I suspect that this has probably compromised the chances of broadcasting
it in the near future - if ever.

Why was there such a rush to go from recording to broadcast?

Is it right that trails were played before the other referred to parties were at least contacted (even if their approval
was not being sought)?

Did no-one on IoM discuss the upcoming show with the family about  - well before the recording and the first trail?



Perhaps it being holiday time meant that people were away and well intentioned discussions could not be had.


From the outside - to me this seems like poor management of a difficult situation - both before the planned broadcast
and after it was pulled - by all of the parties involved.
