Fwiw, if you're talking about re-encoding them /down/ to 256kbs, presumably from 320, then I doubt that there's anyone here who could hear the difference (or if they could, I would hope they'd have the good grace not to complain;-).
But have a look at Dropbox. Not an ideal long-term solution, as you're limited to 2 GB for free, but an excellent short-term one,
