The Flying Cream Shots?

(with apologies for the spam filter-bothering title)
I was listening to the 22nd September 1982 show a couple of days ago, and Peel's intro mentioned that one of the tracks on that night's show would be from an ensemble called The Flying Cream Shots. "Blimey!", I thought. "Those post-punk outfits and their wacky names, eh?".
120 minutes later, as Grinderswitch were fading out to the pips, I realised that no such band had been played on the programme. And (carefully) Googling the supposed band name just now only turned up a handful of pages, all of which seemed to have some relevance to Peel. It turns out that Flying Cream Shots was one of several provisional titles for the (semi-)autobiography 20+ years later.
So, my question is: does anyone know if "flying cream shots" is some sort of regular Peel in-joke? And did he often throw in fake band names at the start of the show to check if anyone was paying attention?
Eddie.
