FLAC is a lossless form of compression -- that is, even though the
file is smaller, you can reconstruct the original audio data exactly
from the FLAC file, so there is never any loss in quality. Therefore
WAV has no quality benefit over FLAC, and FLAC offers smaller file
sizes (even compared to ZIPped WAV files, as FLAC is specifically
designed for audio data).
