[peel] Re: Festive 50 1978 Part 2

All,

Nope - heard him play "Comfortably Numb" back to back with the Scissor
Sisters' version of it sometime in (I'd guess) 2004, noting that it was
likely the first time he'd ever played Floyd's version of that track,
because they'd gotten a bit too "arena" for him by the time it came out.
Can't seem to find a tracklisting that corroborates that, but I know I heard
it.

(He had surprisingly complimentary things to say about Springsteen's "Born
In The USA" when he played Ballboy's version on the F50, too, but didn't
play the original in that instance. Something to the effect that he'd never
really understood the song 'til he heard Ballboy's version and, given the
way Ballboy interpreted it, I get why that would be.)

I remember he was the fist one to play "Another Brick in the Wall"
single in 1979, though. That single famously got to #1

Almost certainly that would be the last time he played Floyd, I think.

Incidentally, great use of the word "seminal"

Although I still, even at this great age, laugh in a Beavis and
Butthead way at the dual meaning of it.

1. pertaining to, containing, or consisting of semen.
2. highly original and influencing the development of future events:
a seminal artist; seminal ideas.
