howsabout megaupload? the maximum for megaupload.com is 500MB per file. so each DVD could fit into 9 uploads.

megaupload sucks if you're not a 'premium' member, something like 10 hours between downloads, but a one-month membership is $10, which is probably around 4 pounds UK these days. free members can store up to 50GB, premium up to 250GB.

so, conceivably someone could upload the 17 DVDs on megaupload in, what 150 files or so, in two free accounts or one premium. then i pay my 10 bucks and go for it (i am currently a megaupload free user, i'd have to upgrade).

the downside for the torrents for me is that they are running quite slow (but i will check the port forwarding thing later). also, i can download from sites like yousendit, rapidshare, and megaupload at work, but they block torrents. so torrent i do at home, where i face the wrath of my ISP (comcast, who have recently made the news here stateside for mucking with torrent traffic). if my usage per month gets too high (i had one very torrenty month where my total was over 250GB, and they gave me a lot of grief).
