Similar things have happened to me too.  One that springs to mind is First Offence.  They were a white hip-hop bunch from Manchester from around the very early 90s.  They released a couple of 12" singles I think, did one Peel session, and recorded an LP that was never released (arguments about copyright clearance, I think).  Anyway, I mentioned them on here and not only did someone provide me with an electronic copy of their Peel session (which I've now lost due to a hard disk failure and very lax personal backup methods!) but someone also sent me a copy of the LP they never released!
