Founders Of The Sound is a Radio 1 documentary about Sound Systems, which includes an interview with Peel. Vinyl Resting Place https://peel.fandom.com/wiki/Vinyl_Resting_Place#Tracklisting is a Radio 2 doc and a Peel documentary all about vinyl, which was broadcast in 1997, featuring such as Tim Rice, Elton John and Nick Hornsby. LE710 didn't contain any Peel content but there was a half hour or so of the Tommy Vance show of 18th May 1990, which I have uploaded especially for Steve (TK) to the Mooo. LE709 added a good chunk of 18th March 1994. I'll not list everything here, but a recent highlight was the previously unavailable show of 23rd November 2000 (the only such show for 2000) now available complete, and this contains the final Incredible String Band session, not commercially released, so presumably also now available for the first time. Quite a few shows from LE636 onwards contained new unedited portions of shows, others were duplicates. Full details on the wiki https://peel.fandom.com/wiki/Lee_Tapes Now that the Lee Tapes are complete I'm starting on a much smaller collection of about 18 tapes. I got these a few years ago just as I was starting the Lee Tapes and I am mortified to say but I cannot remember the source of these tapes! I can't remember if they were sent to me by someone else on here, or if I got them on eBay/Gumtree..... they were packed in an Amazon box. Does this ring any bells with anyone? From johnpeel3904@... This was recorded especially for a Lonnie Donegan tribute show that Peel and his production team were putting together in 2004. A number of cover versions had been recorded by various artists. Sadly, Peel's passing meant that the tribute show never happened. The completed recordings were aired on the Rob da Bank show in December 2004, mostly one per night. Maybe the Billy Bragg track was recorded at the BBC during some other visit, which is why it's listed as session recording. DM On Friday, 20 September 2019, 14:53:47 BST, RobF robfleay@... I don't have a definitive ID of the second track but I think it must be the Broken Dog session track. Then 34 minutes of edited tracks from previously unavailable 23 September 1998, including some session tracks from PJ Harvey, two of which are unreleased and not previously available. The tape ended with a couple of tracks from 24 September 1998, again the first share for that date. MY02 contained a substandard recording of a 2004 show already available so was not shared. MY03 side A contained edited highlights of 14 September 1996, adding 4 extra tracks to the previously available mixtapes. Side B started with 3 new tracks from 30 September 1998, then a track and a bit from new show 01 October 1998, with the rest of the tape from 08 October 1998, with the Surgeon live set available for the first time. MY04 was edited parts of another previously available show in 2004, so not shared, MY05 contained mostly unedited portions of 21 December 1996 and 22 December 1996, mostly focused on the F50, and I have shared these as they are a substantial sound upgrade to the existing complete shows, where they overlap. You can hear Peel's voice briefly between 20:39-21:01 and 24:57-25:01, where he mentions about Dave Cousins introducing the album. Does anyone know where the audio comes from? I think it's more likely from Sounds On Sundays, but BBC Genome website doesn't mention Peel introducing the Strawbs on Sounds On Sundays. The BBC Genome website mentions the artists and presenters on all of the Sounds On Sundays programmes. As far as I know the LP was released in January 1975 according to the Strawbs website, but on discogs it mentions that the album was released in 1974 in Germany, but the other countries in 1975. I had thought it maybe Sounds On Sunday, but the BBC Genome doesn't mention Peel introducing the Strawbs, and the Genome site always mentions the artist and presenter for all of the Sounds On Sunday features. I can safely say it's definitely not Peel's BFBS or his BBC World Service programmes, as they never featured interviews with artists.
