Exactly. Having kicked out the member of the band with any real talent (Matlock) they were struggling to come up with anything worth recording.

I think the main reason for the inclusion of the Pistols'
 singles (well, the A-sides anyway) on their album was that
 there was bugger all else in their repertoire at the time,
 or subsequently - apart from the abysmal "Belsen Was A
 Gas".
