 Radio 1 Vintage, a temporary digital station, will broadcast classic material from the Radio 1 archive for three days from September 30, marking 50 years since Blackburn launched the BBC’s first station devoted to pop music.

 

 Fifty hour-long “best-off” programmes will be devoted to famous Radio 1 DJs including John Peel, Simon Bates, Ed Stewart, Kenny Everett and pioneering female broadcaster Annie Nightingale.
