I've not investigated the latter yet but I have got a bunch of SL Tapes ripped. Npt too much that is now, mostly sound upgrades but three of the 1992 shows are now complete. L387 contained two separate portions of 22nd May 1992 http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/22_May_1992, one of which completed the last missing few minutes of the show, a portion of 29th May 1992 http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/29_May_1992 (that show already complete) and the missing last track of 16th May 1992 http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/16_May_1992. L388 contained more portions of the 22nd and 29th May (already available) . L389 and L390 each featured the Andy Kershaw show of 30th May 1992 on their a sides, (AK shows available here http://mooo.peelwiki.com/dl/Stuart/Andy%20Kershaw/) with the b sides containing sound upgrades to the Peel Show http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/30_May_1992 of the same date. L391 featured two sides of already available 14th November 1992 http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/14_November_1992. L392 side a fills in a gap in 28th November 1992 http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/28_November_1992, previously only a few individual tracks from mixtapes were available from that portion. On side b it's yet another version of the last quarter of 19th December 1992 http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/19_December_1992. L393 side a is back to the Andy Kershaw show of 3rd October 1992, the end of that show available as a separate file from side b, with side b ending with a 9 minute file from the missing start of the Peel show http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/03_October_1992 of the same date. L394 is a Mixing It special. Side a contains the Mixing It Pick Of 1992 http://mooo.peelwiki.com/dl/Stuart/Mixing%20It%20Pick%20Of%20The%20Year%201992%20L394.mp3, which was really enjoyable, and as it was recorded on a Scotch BX rather than the usual Philips FS, is of really high sound quality. Side b was a Mixing It from May 1993 http://mooo.peelwiki.com/dl/Stuart/Mixing%20It%20May 1993. L395a is the first quarter of 15th January 1993 http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/15_January_1993 (already available). On side b was the end of the Andy Kershaw show of the 16th, then the start of the Peel show http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/16_January_1993, mostly new though a few tracks were available on mixtapes. L396 was not ripped as it was a documentary on classical music. Finally for now, a couple of Derby Box re-rips from 6th and 11th January 1980, in the usual place. L398 contained a side of Andy Kershaw from 23rd January 1993 http://mooo.peelwiki.com/dl/Stuart/Andy%20Kershaw/, followed by the second bit of the Peel Show of the same date http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/23_January_1993 - only individual tracks previously available for that section, with other segments previously shared from the SL tapes L399 and L400 contained most of 29th January 1993 http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/29_January_1993, which were combined into one file, only individual tracks form mixtapes previously available. All but 2 tracks and the news now shared. L401, L402a and L403a featured most of 30th January 1993 http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/30_January_1993, again combined into 1 file, and mostly new. 4 tracks are missing from the start of the show, but the first is available from one of the mixtapes. L402b contained a side of Andy Kershaw from the 30th. (same place on the Mooo as the 23rd) L403b was filled in a few months later, kicking off with the last 21 minutes of 30th April 1993 http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/30_April_1993 (funnily enough 2 of the tracks, the rare Cutler session track and Fairport Convention, were only recently shared from Rob's session tapes) then a 15 minute new section from late on the show of 1st May 1993 http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/01 May 1993 (show not definitively dated but it ties in with the already available bits of the show shared from the SL Tapes). L404 featured 2 side of 5th February 1993 http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/05_February_1993 which dovetail with the existing 2 shares from the SL tapes - when combined with the missing first track of the show which is on a mixtape, the show is effectively complete minus the news bulletins. As you'll see I have managed to number the L tapes in rough chronological order - so I will complete this batch of 10 once I start the next one as I think I could combine some of the sides into a longer file. So I found time on this trip to Ripping Central to redo one of the Derby Box Memorex tapes - this time 19th November 1979, available from the usual place. Stuart/Weatherman22 From M.Luetchford@... L401, L402a and L403a featur ed most of 30th January 1993, again combined into 1 file, and mostly new. 4 tracks are missing from the start of the show, but the first is available from one of the mixtapes. L402b contained a side of Andy Kershaw from the 30th. (same place on the Mooo as the 23rd) L403b was filled in a few months later, kicking off with the last 21 minutes of 30th April 1993 (funnily enough 2 of the tracks, the rare Cutler session track and Fairport Convention, were only recently shared from Rob's session tapes) then a 15 minute new section from late on the show of 1st May 1993 (show not definitively dated but it ties in with the already available bits of the show shared from the SL Tapes). L404 featured 2 side of 5th February 1993 which dovetail with the existing 2 shares from the SL tapes - when combined with the missing first track of the show which is on a mixtape, the show is effectively complete minus the news bulletins. This was probably a copy of the one that Ken was given by Bernie Andrews, or perhaps the same one! That got me checking the wiki page, and I realised that the page was pretty out of date, and timeline of the discovery of audio for this show was incomplete, so it's been revamped a bit. The tape must have gathered dust for a while, as the next audio was the last half hour of , 24th April 1993 http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/24_April_1993 already available. Then on Side B an episode of Mixing It, the audio linked to from the SL Tapes http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/SL_Tapes_%28tapes%29 page http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/24_April_1993 already available. Mostly new, and possibly the debut play of a Jeff Mills record. At the end of 407 was the last 12 minutes of an OOBS show (again linked to on the SL tapes page). Message-ID: Hello, all. Just a brief (BRIEF) bum-kissing bit. Its annoying, but its heartfelt... I've been using the John Peel Wiki for a few years now. In conjunction with this fine discussion group here, it is simply one of the most essential resources on the internet, and the preserved shows its led me to have helped me through some loooong days at work. So thank you all - The rippers, the tracklisters, and the fans that continue to talk about John Peel and keep him alive. Thank you. This is how the 'net should be, and increasingly isn't... Whew. That was the mushy bit, here's the begging bit - I was a huge fan of Radcliffe and Lard in the 90's, so I was pretty excited when I found out Peel once hosted a show with Lard and Mark Lamarr. Maybe its morbid curiosity... If anyone has access to the show dated 20th March 1996 and can share, I'd be so, so grateful. I believe K uploaded originally. Now to business. Pates Tapes has begun to re-up its Peel content after the big site re-do from a few years back. Just the Peel Out In The States shows at the moment, but it should be well worth keeping an eye on as this cunning Yank somehow had many of the BBC shows not available anywhere else... Cheers, all.
