The audio at the British Library has a low bitrate. Basically a two hour show would be in total around 85MB. I guess they put this at a low bitrate, to prevent people copying the sound onto an electronic equipment. Also if you download the mp3 on their computer (when you download a file, there is no option where you want to save it), it goes into a folder and you have to ask permission to get hold of it, as the folder has a electronic security lock unless you stream play it, which I normally do when I'm there. I guess they do that, to prevent people downloading the mp3 onto the desktop and then send it through to their personal email or cloud. In fact the British Library also block email addresses on their computer systems, such as Gmail, Yahoo, etc., simply to prevent people copying files and sending it to their personal electronic address.
