It's updated with all of the Dandelion Radio festive fifties, plus an expanded section on the 1977 chart and extended commentaries on other years. I've also acknowledged my thanks to this group for doing such great work in keeping the Peel legacy alive. I'm hoping a digital version will be available later in the year. In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: I've no idea. but the tape was ominously part way through - unlike all the other 80 odd tapes so far, which have all been ready and waiting at the start of Side A So you can imagine my trepidation when I picked up DB089 and found it in a similar state. However, this one was worse, not twisted but the reels were so stiff it would neither play nor rewind/ffwd. An attempt to manually wind it snapped the tape. So another disassembly job.. This tape is a Pyral Superferrite C90 http://www.c-90.org/catalogue/tapes/Pyral/Pyral%20Superferrite/0 which I've never seen before and I think is one of only two in the Derby Box (the first one DB088 played fine) I've been grappling with it all afternoon, and was quite close to chucking it in the bin at one point, until I realised that it contains the first hour of one of the few completely unshared shows in this section of the Derby Box. So I'm sticking with it and the results won't be perfect, but the sound quality is not too badly affected, just some mid song edits where the tape snapped or kept stopping whilst ripping. Those two files were uploaded to the Mooo and I was going to announce them to the group when I spotted that there were date discrepancies in the Gumtree spreadsheet that I was working from. Then I got called away... I've now been back to the tapes themselves and they agree with the spreadsheet that Frank Chickens session tracks are down for both 12th & 13th March 1985 and spread over two tapes. I'm going to re-edit the files to bring them all together as 12th March. Regarding the Pogues’ Dingle Regatta file, the tape inlay clearly says 15th Feb but as that was a Friday there would have been no show that night. As the original taper seems to have edited the tapes sequentially (even when splitting shows across multiple tapes) all I can say is that this file "should" be from between 29th January and 12th March. Another batch from me: Going back to the broken DB259, once fixed contained 5th November 1981 http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/05_November_1981, with Gregory Isaacs & Roots Radics and Modern English in session. Continues the TV21 entire album play. Previously just over an hour of linkfree tracks were available of 9th December 1981 http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/09_December_1981 on Karl's tape. DB262 now adds a 94 minute chunk so only 13 minutes of the show are now missing. Chefs and The Sound in session. Danse Society and Distributors featured on 17th December 1981 http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/17 December_1981, from DB263, and completing 1981. With DB264 having previously been shared by Rob as one of the test tapes, DB265 jumps to 11th January 1982 http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/11_January_1982, with APB and Killing Joke in session. It contains some nondescript stuff from the John Peel programme - but the highlight is a radio 1 broadcast of The Blue Nile playing live - there's about 1 minute missing otherwise it's the whole broadcast. Very good quality stereo FM recording on VG quality tape. 2 track tape recorded at 7.5 I.P.S. - but will also play on 4 track machine.” No mention of "Blue Nile" having a session ... but could be from 1991 In Concert http://www.bbcradioint.com/contentfiles/in_concert_catalogue.pdf Paul Webster On Thu, 28 May 2015 14:59:31 -0400, you wrote: >Bugger! > >Auction ended 7 minutes before I followed the link. > >Anyone know the winning bidder? > >The line "Nondescript stuff from the John Peel programme" fills me with curiosity - it's the sort of advertising he would give his own show on occasion > >Rocker > > > > > >-----Original Message----- >From: haze.harrison@...
