Kaleidoscope tapes

Hi Stuart,
Thanks for the reply. DNAYS stands for Do Not Adjust Your Set, broadcast by Rediffusion and Thames TV in 1968 and 1969 and the precursor for Monty Python. I think your right in assuming Ed's tapes are mostly if not all, reel-to-reel tapes.
Best regards, Vincent

It's worth putting this to the group as a whole. Personally I'm kept busy enough with the Peel Tapes and it sounds like a lot of Eds tapes are reel to reel which only a few of us have. Stuart BTW what is DNAYS?

Hi Stuart,
A question with regards to digitizing tapes.

Since I have found a presumed missing episode of DNAYS two months ago, I was able to establish some contacts at Kaleidoscope.
As you might know they acquired the Ed Doolan tapes some years ago. These tapes contain the audio of a number of television shows. It seems there is about 500 hours of tapes. From what I understand only some of it is digitized.

Not much is said about the timeframe in which they want to do all this. It seems to me that its not really a priority, simply because it hardly has any value and not really interesting to broadcast. Probably the only ones who really appreciate these recordings are probably archivists / researchers like myself.
As you have already established a whole system of digitizing audio-tapes, and over time gained a wealth of experience doing this, I am wondering if you and some of your fellow-Peel group members might be interested in playing a role in digitizing these tapes.Obviously I am not the person who decides this (not even close) but when I read this in an e-mail from one of my contacts at Kaleidoscope, I immediately thought of mentioning you guys. I didn't because of obvious reasons but when there's agenuine interest from your side in wanting to do this perhaps we could establish a contact between you and Kaleidoscope.
Very interested to learn your thoughts on this and looking forward to your reply.
All the best,

Vincent
