Message-ID: of the Rich tapes, which are now running in to the start of the SL tapes. R189 contained a continous portion of 12th October 1991 http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/12_October_1991. The show is now almost complete, and this file though containing little new other than some intros. has helped confirm the estimated running order from the spicing together of the Dance and Guitar streams of the SL tapes of this show. Stretchheads in session. There are still some question marks about the running order at the end of the show, not helped by some of the L tapes having inaccurate durations as reported by Windows and some mp3 players, it looks like the vbr settings are confusing things. 4 minutes from the end of the show are unaccounted for and one of the tracks assigned to the following night's show may be from this night, I guess we'll never know. R190 was blank. R191 and R192 contained most of 19th October 1991 http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/19_October_1991 which other than 1 track was also previously share as the L tapes, though again the running order is now known. The extra track completes the show. Zero Zero and Pixies in session. R193 contained half of 26th October 1991 http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/26_October_1991. The first 40 minutes are all new, while combined with the SL shares only a few minutes are now missing. Boo Radleys and Cherry Forever in session. A big jump on R194 to 14th December 1991 http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/14_December_1991 and half of the show is now upgraded. Stuart From klacktoveedesteen@... His record in spotting not only radical original talent, but also new sorts of music, is unsurpassed. He not only spotted the stars of tomorrow, he created them, and for millions of audience members and fans, as well as for artists themselves, he changed the way we saw and experienced the world. How sad that he can't be our curator on The Space, but how brilliant that his archive has been digitised, and his influence and inspiration can continue. This great project, the runaway hit of the pilot Space, has returned to inspire, delight and surprise us all. Artistic Summary In collaboration with The Space, the John Peel Archive is to begin exploring the cultural context of what lies on the shelves, as we delve deeper into John’s treasure trove with the help of key figures involved with the music. The “Record Box' format will allow their musical selections to be heard and stories told – like a kind of super mixtape with the curator’s scribbles splashed around the casing of our virtual D90s. These Record Boxes form the foundation of our vision to create thousands of interrelated Record Boxes – openly compilable by anyone – spanning the knowledge and everyday experiences of the diverse musical history that has come to define a nation’s counter-cultural identity. Record Box One: Joe Boyd In September, the first of the six Record Boxes commissioned by The Space will be compiled by Joe Boyd, legendary producer and founder of the UFO club in the 1960s; discoverer of Pink Floyd among others and producer of many seminal records from Fairport Convention to Nick Drake. There is nothing showing on the BBC International list of In Concerts which are available for rebroadcast on other radio stations. I take it you have tried the BBC direct? I have seen some ICA shows rebroadcast on 6Music so it is entirely possible they have a copy. Regarding sessions then again I would try the BBC though I have three of the first and two of the second session in FM quality Stuart. On 11 September 2014 11:39:51 BST, "ee20302@... We are looking at releasing the 2 sessions and Live at the ICA that were recorded in 84/85. Does anyone here have any experience of obtaining copies and licensing? Also any decent recordings would help as no-one in the band has anything better than the postings on You Tube. Archiving wasn't much of a priority for them back then! Any help anyone could give would be appreciated. I've been in contact with Ken Garner who has kindly given me some ideas but i was also directed her. Thanks in advance. Many thanks to Dirk. 27 August 1997 (Lance Gambit Trio). 45 minutes from near the beginning of the show. 02 September 1997 (Salaryman) The shortest file from this source to date (20 minutes), but, as usual, new to the catalogue. 03 December 1997 (Magic Dirt) A C90s worth here........ 15 January 1998 (Cristian Vogel) .......and here...... 20 December 2000 (PJ Harvey) ......and here. Sounds splendid! I believe the session that was played on 6 was from the evening sessions lp that strange fruit put out some time back.
Apologies for not replying sooner, been having trouble with this email account for some reason.
Any contacts to help us get A1 copies of the sessions would be great, even at some cost. We will be contacting worldwide to see about licensing for an official release but getting the tracks would be a great start!
Cheers

Hadn't thought about it for 30 years but when I saw the track listed on the inlay of S006 of the Stewart Tapes I remembered it as clear as day. We have 4 shows from March 1982 today. First up 2nd March 1982 http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/02_March_1982, which filled up half of S006. Featuring Artery in session. Next 3rd March 1982 http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/03_March_1982, around 67 minutes from S005 and S006. Names and Sinatras in session though only some session tracks were taped. S007 contained 11th March 1982 http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/11_March_1982 and 15th March 1982 http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/15_March_1982. The 11th featured Theatre Of Hate in session and a superlative Nigerian track from 1976. The boundary between the two shows is not entirely obvious but the 15th does contain some session tracks from TV21 and John Cooper Clarke. These edited tapes are truly a Best Of Peel as they are just as eclectic as the full shows with no obvious genre edited out! Many thanks to JS et al Stuart From M.Luetchford@... Could be argued either way really, I suppose (see also Bonzos "Give Booze A Chance"). Think it may be best to go with Discogs as a general rule for tricky cases. For this one, seemingly not a cover - a Sensible, Vanian composition, allegedly. Does this seem to make sense? Cheers, SW From zomgqashiyo@... Mon Sep 29 18:09:34 2014 From: zomgqashiyo@... S008 brings 70 minutes of another show new to the catalogue, 17th March 1982, and a little puzzle. The taper didn't know who the artists were (I shall spare his blushes by not revealing what was typed on the inlay) and neither does Mr Shazam. Complete Blancmange and Animal Magic sessions. Thanks to Rich and JS (and all the enablers including Branko) Incidentally if you notice any video links not working on the wiki, well there was a change in the coding in that the old "[[Video:" tag has been deprecated and only "[[File:" now works. It's an easy fix, but you need to view page source to edit the tag. Stuart
