a lot of those user guides are obsolete as of this morning 8(

basically you want this, which will download the thing in question

get_iplayer --pid=b04mctvz --type=radio --get

where the b04mctvz is the programme id which you can get from the urls of
the bbc webpage for the programme

i've never used the pvr functionality or anything other than the simple
command line scripts so i can't tell much more but...
