I'm sure you have, but it's worth asking - have you investigated any recovery methods? Either software-based or even the old freezer trick?

Hi Folks

I initially believed that my inaugural posting to this esteemed forum would feature news of forthcoming aural goodies, Peelish delights plus various radio cherries to delight and amaze. All of these shows where stored on my external hard disc, ready to shift in your general direction.
You can see where this is going, can't you?
I can confirm that the words 'Western' and 'Digital' not only strike a cold barb into my heart but rapidly fill it, simultaneously, with anger and sorry.
My crime? To store this fragile, traitorous, mechanism, vertically, away from extremes in temperature and sudden shocks. My reward? Devastation. I have lost the lot. Where is my back-up? At the bottom of my empty wallet, that's where.
I am replacing many of the lost files from the forum archive but there were many, many others of my own that are lost. Shows, of top sound quality, that I managed to record directly from Sky radio over the years, via an early Creative MP3 player, that are gone forever.
This message is not just a cathartic rant (my apologies for filling your head with my grief) but also cry for help.
Some of the missing files included early Freak Zones (Pre-2009 and back), old Mixing It Radio 3 shows plus, and this is rather off topic, old Russell Davies shows. A quick explanation to sooth the furrowed brow. Davies was the DJ king of the Great American Songbook. He played many gems, knows his stuff and provided untold knowledge on the music between and betwixt tracks. His show has been axed but his show was knocking about Radio 2 for years, even if the length of his show was systematically hacked over time.
Any road up, I wondered if anyone had any shows or links that might soothe my pain a little or, failing that, might have a link or three that could serve the same purpose?

Yours in silent agony

Paul
