Most people are very influenced in life by things that happen to them in their teens. I noted some years back that virtually all my favourite music was released between 67 and 85. After 85 when I was no longer a teenager I stopped listening to new music and went back in time looking for stuff I'd actually missed out on when I was younger or even too young to listen to when it was originally released. It's not just new bands either, Some of the artists who released stuff I love up to 85, I just don't really like anything they have produced post 85. It's kinda like a musical brick wall. I still am of course, but back then it was much more intertwined with life's emotional events which along with the music resonate down through the years. There's also stuff on my tapes from the era I've never managed to identify over the years and being able to do so is my Holy Grail! And I'm sure there is stuff I heard at the time, have forgotten what it was but I know there is a bit of my brain that will recognise it when it comes along again in the form of an old Peel Show! The bands are in general from an era/style that predates my interests so I would not be able to spot a true rarity in there. Mostly 60s and 70s stuff.
