Oh dear, someone else so desperate to cling on to his fast-fading youth that he pretends the establishment and ruling class of 30 years ago and more still have exactly the same prejudices and priorities as they had then.  Surely this whole idea is living proof that they don't?

The BBC today treats popular culture generally and pop music specifically with far more seriousness and respect than it ever could have done back then.  Arguably it has actually gone too far in that direction, in terms of its traditional strengths which have seemingly had to be sacrificed to make way for it.  The really sick joke here is you yourself, contrary to your Blair-esque delusions of being "anti-establishment", almost certainly share the prejudice many of its rulers probably still have - against the music played on 1Xtra.
