Yes.  There were some areas still only picking up Radio 1 on MW at the time.

The amazing thing is that it seemingly wasn't kept in the first place - not that anything of value would have been missed by *not* keeping it in my view, but Clapton even back then was emerging as a crucial new-establishment figure.
