Am I the only person steeped in popular culture who actually *preferred* these things (see also Round Britain Quiz) when they didn't acknowledge the existence of anything I might be familiar with?  I don't think I'm alone in this; what irks me about their current form is that it conceals a bien-pensant prejudice (against anything you might hear on 1Xtra, for a start) at least as bad as anything in the old world.
