That was quite advanced for 2001?

I think I used to record BBC6 Dream Ticket from Sky box to HiFi VHS as late as 2004 which seems quaint now.

And talking of Dream Ticket -  How many shows did you get? 

There used to be an index with the shows and dates on a web site, but I can't find it any more.
