Interestingly mine is dated 12-10-71 while I note that the one Bill put up is dated 03-10-71, so maybe the 03 one was repeated on the 12th??
Anyway, I've uploaded part one of the thing at:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0E6O2MAY
providing I've done this right (I'm not that good with things like this)
so if you download that you can hear the Peel intro and see the diffrerences - I'm presuming the rest of the programme is the same on both but won't get a chance to check.
Thanks alot,
Andy G aka Dead Earnest

Another reason why Peel would have made that point in Oct 71 "and on VHF", and got applause for it, was that I am fairly certain that the concert and the rest of the sounds of the seventies shows only started going out on FM the week before, with that move to 10pm weeknights. So Peel's frequency comments would be doubly nonsensical and out of date for any future repeat of the show, so logically Jeff Griffin would have edited them out

My guess is Bill's intro comes from the 1972 repeat when In Concert was following on from the previous Radio One program ans so was not opening up again. I have a low-fi AM recording of the last 30 minutes of the repeat of this concert from August 1972 so could compare the endings, particularly if Peel introduces next week's acts or not.

On mine, Peels starts by saying "This is Radio One" - as on Bill's - then he says "opening again on medium wave", then after that burst of crowd applause,Peel adds "on vhf" - then another burst of crowd applause - but then the next bit is exactly as on Bill's - I can't detect any edits on Bill's and I know mine was recorded exactly as it was broadcast, so any explanations anyone?
