Thanks Jim, that is really good quality for a 40 year old tape.

Amazing in fact.

And the put down at the end as he hands over to Pete Drummond is classic!

But sounds like there is some tape damage at the start which affects Peels intro.

Do you try playing that on another cassette.

I had this trouble when I used a good cassette deck (Nakamichi) to rip some of the 400 shows.

Tape used to wander and cause flutter and fading like your tape.

In the end I found a cheap deck that played it fine, bizarely enough

Probably the brute force mechanism just pulled the tape into place.

Good enough to get a steady capture though.

Anyway if you have any more recordings of anything from that era that then that would be very welcome, you must have had very good equipment back then.

They also probably deserve better than 128kbs if you still have the wav files?

Any way thanks again for a brilliant contribution.

The music? Oh yeah that is just the Stones, just there to seperate the Peel bits....

It does however include 30 seconds of John at the end of the show. I have updated the Wiki page http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/30_May_1971 with a link to John's outro.
