tape screech

Hmmm don't fancy getting WD40 inside the deck. Might try the heat technique as described at http://www.ehow.com/how_6618905_fix-squeaky-audio-cassette-tapes.html. I do have a reasonable rip, already uploaded, which is probably as good as is possible with the current condition of the tape, so it won't be a complete disaster if the tape treatments don't work. 

BTW it's a BASF LH super 120, so probably a function of the formulation, the thin-ness and storage is at fault.

And at least the screechy tape doesn't seem to have had any ill effects on the heads.
