The Promised Land on BBC Radio 1 20th December 1988

On 20th December 1988 JP narrated a documentary about the Chuck Berry
song "The Promised Land"

I say narrated, but in fact his role seems to have been  to provide the
opening and closing comments to the documentary.

Now, I don't have the beginning, and since the song covers a journey
from Norfolk Virginia to the promised land of California, we join the
documentary somewhere in New Orleans, which is about half way. Kind of a
soundscape of radio stations and songs and interviews

So it may have been a 50 minute programme of which we have the last 23
minutes.  Peel is on at the end, introducing Elvis.

was also involved

Anyway, after the programme finishes we go into the news and then the
full programme of 20th December 1988, so it is about 2 1/2 hours.
