Sounds familiar. I am sure I had the Breed session that Stuart (from the Peel Sessions blog) is searching.Only half of that disc I could save...(not the Breed session...)
BTW old CDs I made for myself that won't play anymore, I often can rip and make it again.
Also my oldest selfmade Cds were burned at a very low speed, they are all still playable. The new ones at high speed are in many cases unplayable after a few spins.

I've always been a recluse! I'm on a newsgroup on the Internet so
I must be a nutter of some sort!
I started regularly taping sessions around 1978-79
