Hi Kevin

I understand how you feel - but I also think that a remastered version of this show would be great!

And if there are good quality versions of the session tracks available it would be quite easy to do. Your recording of the show is almost complete and nearly all of what's missing is in the previously available file.

That file seems to be a mish mash of original radio recordings and stuff that was added later - with mixed results - but I decided to use it as the main source file for my quick reconstruction job because it had better quality versions of some of my favourite tracks already patched in - and as I intend to listen to it a few times next week to brighten up my daily commutes, it was better from that point of view. There is a small jump in the audio during the first Squeeze track but I can live with that for the time being....

Any eventual remaster should be based on your file - and although it wouldn't be authentic as such - my ears would definitely prefer it, so I'm obviously not as sentimental as you about this kind of thing....

I remember having to tape a 1988 episode of Viv Stanshall's "Sir Henry At Rawlinson End" from the Peel show on a broken tape recorder, which required me to keep my finger depressed on the record button for the entire 18 minutes. The recording wasn't too bad, but when I found a better quality mp3 a couple of years ago I was quite happy to chuck it away!

Jake

Even with the original vinyl, a replacement is going to sound subtly different. Plus I'm getting sentimental. I'd like to keep what I had...
