I may have missed this elsewhere (just catching up with the backlog of messages) but I remember Peel playing a Ruben and the Jets tune on the day Zappa died. John was pretty choked up as I recall.

There's a couple of Mothers of Invention appearances on the Wiki from Perfumed Garden days (think there's also actually another couple, but Ihaven't done the tracklistings yet). Also, this one from Top Gear:http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/06_July_1969Also this Top Gear, 11 August 1968, which I've had for ages from somewhere or other, but also hadn't got up on the Wiki yet and just found on a blog via a quick google:http://halsprogressiverockblog.blogspot.com/2008/05/john-peel-top-gear-bbc-radio-1.htmlCheers,Steve W--- In peel@yahoogroups.com, Jimmy Stepek <jimmystep@...> wrote:>> Tape T070 dated 1979-02-14> > Frank Zappa: Rat Tomago (LP - Sheik Yerbouti) CBS> > > http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/T070> > --- On Sun, 26/10/08, Roger Carruthers <roger.carruthers@...> wrote:> > > > > > > > Re: [peel] Re: Did Peel ever play Tom Waits?> Ditto Frank Zappa ? > > I think I posted the question here once before, but apart from some early Mothers, eg. in the final Perfumed Garden, I don’t recall ever hearing any Zappa on Peel, which considering his prodigious output, would seem a deliberate omission â€" possibly because John was fond of Beefheart, who fell out with Zappa, or perhaps he couldn’t quite stomach Zappa’s famously cynical world view?>
