Ach!
My secret identity is now known!
Ladies and gentlemen - the Peel Group HAVE secured the archive for posterity!
I'll arrange with Rocker for collection and then he will arrange (with consultation with the group) the digitising and distribution.
Personally, I would like to see the tapes digitised in a lossless form such as FLAC for posterity's sake but let's have a debate about it as this is a democracy!
If anyone would like to contribute to the cost of these tapes then I welcome nominal payments of £20 to my PayPal account of:
mike_hyde@...
If you don't have a PayPal account - don't worry about it. I prefer not to post addresses on the web for everyone to see. If there's a short fall then I'll cover it!
Oh happy day!
DeeDee

Astonishing! The winner is called Mike Hyde and is probably the same guy who posted a comment here
http://www.bbc. co.uk/6music/ shows/inthearchi ve/johnpeel. shtml
saying "Did the BBC record John's shows? I could see that a digital channel playing solely John Peel shows would work - Pay per listen perhaps. (Old shows are available on P2P guys! Check out eMule! Post your own old recordings there and maybe we can start our own virtual archive!)"
So..on that basis I would recommend contacting him via his ebay account congratulate him on his win and explain that there is an army of people on this list who would dearly love to help him with project to digitise the tapes & share them on the web...got to be worth a try
Maybe Ken should be the one to contact him to give the offer some credence?
