I do, we had a lot of problems with spam in the past so I added a  
comments field where the prospective user had to put in a reason for  
joining.

Our friend with the undesirable habit joined with the comment:
"Seems your group is great. I'm interested and want to join."

Well, I fell for that one. New members can expect a more rigorous  
test, such as "in the 1979 session from Stiff Little Fingers, who was  
on drums?"

(Ken's books are both upstairs, so I can't give an answer).
